Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Light snow showers are expected early Wednesday morning across southeast Wisconsin, with minor but noticeable impacts possible during the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, a fast-moving cold front will move through the region overnight, bringing scattered snow showers between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday. Snowfall rates are expected to remain light, up to 0.25 inches per hour, though a quick dusting of accumulation is possible in some areas.
Forecasters say the best chance for accumulation will be along and east of Interstate 39, including parts of south-central and east-central Wisconsin. Peak timing for snow north of I-94 and U.S. 18 is expected between 12 a.m. and 3 a.m., with snow shifting south between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.
While widespread travel disruptions are not expected, gusty north winds behind the cold front could cause brief blowing snow and reduced visibility at times. The Weather Service advises drivers to budget a few extra minutes if traveling during the Wednesday morning commute.
Behind the front, temperatures will fall rapidly into the teens and low 20s, with wind chills dropping into the single digits by Wednesday morning. Little improvement in temperatures or wind chills is expected through the rest of the day.
Communities including Milwaukee, Madison, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Fond du Lac, and surrounding areas may notice the colder conditions even after snow showers end.
No winter weather advisories were issued with this update, but officials urge residents to monitor local forecasts for any changes overnight.
