Binghamton, New York – Drivers across the Southern Tier and northeast Pennsylvania could face slick roads and reduced visibility through 7 p.m. Monday as steady snow and gusty winds continue.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. Monday for Madison, Chenango and Broome counties in New York and Bradford County in Pennsylvania. Snow totals between 2 and 7 inches are expected, with north-northwest wind gusts reaching 35 mph late tonight into Monday.
Snow will continue to accumulate on untreated roads, especially overnight. In Binghamton and along Interstate 81, visibility may drop at times as blowing snow develops. Route 12 near Norwich and Route 17 through Broome County could become slick during heavier bursts. In Bradford County, including Towanda and Sayre, drifting snow may create uneven road conditions during the Monday morning commute.
Officials urge motorists to slow down and allow extra stopping distance. In New York, drivers can call 511 for updated road conditions. In Pennsylvania, visit 511PA for the latest travel advisories.
Snow and gusty winds will gradually ease Monday evening, but isolated slick spots may persist into the nighttime hours.
