Tallulah, LA – A Louisiana State Police traffic stop on Interstate 20 in Madison Parish led to a fugitive arrest Monday after troopers allegedly discovered drugs and a stolen firearm inside a speeding vehicle.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, troopers pulled over a white Jeep for speeding when they detected a strong odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered more than 100 grams of suspected marijuana and a stolen Glock 30 handgun.

Investigators say the passenger, identified as Kelton Marshall, allegedly admitted to owning both the marijuana and the weapon. A further records check revealed Marshall was wanted on active warrants out of Russell County, Alabama, for rape and attempting to elude law enforcement.

Marshall was taken into custody and booked into the Madison Parish Jail. He faces multiple charges including:

  • Possession of marijuana
  • Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
  • Fugitive warrants for rape and attempting to elude

The Louisiana State Police Public Affairs Section confirmed the arrest in a January 5 statement and encouraged residents to report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
