Troy, IL – A predawn shooting and armed robbery in Troy early Friday left one suspect dead and a juvenile in custody, according to the Troy Police Department. Officers were first approached by the gunshot victim at about 1:12 a.m. on December 5, 2025, at the Circle K gas station on Edwardsville Road.

According to police, the victim said he had arranged to meet a female he encountered online. When he arrived at the Circle K, an armed male allegedly confronted him alongside the female. The male suspect allegedly shot the victim, then demanded money and the victim’s phone before fleeing with the female.

Officers administered medical aid until EMS transported the victim to a hospital. Meanwhile, investigators responded to the area of the shooting and, with help from a neighboring agency’s K-9 unit, tracked the suspects to a residence on Orchard Court.

As officers made contact with people inside the home, they located the female suspect and detained her. During the search, investigators determined that the male suspect was hiding in a closet. Police said that as officers approached, the suspect used a handgun to take his own life. EMS transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The male was 23, authorities said, though his name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

Police emphasized that no officers fired shots during the incident and no other individuals inside the residence were injured.

The juvenile female remains in custody as the investigation continues.
