MADISON, WI – A quick round of light snow is expected to move through parts of southwest Wisconsin late this afternoon into the evening, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan.

Forecasters say a trace to half an inch of accumulation is possible, with the best chance centered around Darlington, Dodgeville, Lone Rock, Monroe, and New Glarus, where probabilities approach 50% for measurable snow.

According to the National Weather Service, while this system could shift slightly north, even the most favorable track would likely bring no more than around an inch of snow to far southwest Wisconsin.

Impacts are expected to be minor, but some slick spots could develop on untreated roads and elevated surfaces as temperatures drop through the evening commute. Drivers are advised to use caution, especially on rural or secondary roads.

The light snow should taper off later tonight, with clearing skies by Friday morning and highs returning to the mid-30s.
