Macon, Georgia – A wrong-way driver was arrested Sunday on Third Street after deputies conducted a traffic stop and determined the motorist was allegedly driving under the influence.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, H.E.A.T. Unit Deputy Dalton Palmer responded to reports of a pickup truck entering oncoming traffic. Authorities said the vehicle was stopped on Third Street after deputies located the driver traveling in the wrong direction.

After conducting field sobriety tests, deputies determined the driver was allegedly impaired. The sheriff’s office reported that the driver was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center.

A breath test administered following the arrest registered a blood alcohol concentration of .156, according to the sheriff’s office. In Georgia, the legal blood alcohol concentration limit for drivers age 21 and older is 0.08.

Officials have not released additional identifying information about the driver. No injuries or crashes were reported in connection with the incident.
