Macon, GA – Residents across Middle Georgia will have the chance to safely dispose of unused or expired medications on Saturday, October 25, 2025, as the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office partners with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for the National Take Back Initiative #29.

According to the sheriff’s office, the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the emergency room parking lot of Piedmont Macon North, located at 400 Charter Blvd, Macon, Georgia 31210. The program allows citizens to bring unwanted prescription medications for safe disposal—helping prevent misuse and environmental contamination.

Participants are asked to remove all name labels from medication bottles before drop-off. Bottles with labels attached will not be accepted. Authorities also note that no syringes, needles, or liquid medications will be collected.

This year, the DEA will accept vape pens and other e-cigarette devices from individual consumers, but only if the batteries are removed beforehand. The agency will not handle battery removal onsite.

The initiative, part of a national effort to promote drug safety and responsible disposal, offers a free and anonymous way to clear out medicine cabinets while helping keep communities safe.
