Macon County, AL – Overturned Commercial Vehicle Closes I-85 Lane Early Tuesday

Macon County, AL – A section of Interstate 85 southbound is partially shut down today after an early morning crash involving a commercial vehicle.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the single-vehicle crash happened at approximately 4:03 a.m. Tuesday near the 38-mile marker in Macon County. The commercial vehicle overturned, prompting immediate lane closures while wrecker crews worked to recover it.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is currently providing traffic control at the scene. ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division troopers are also present, investigating the incident and monitoring traffic flow. Officials have not released details on the cause of the crash or whether there were any injuries.

Motorists traveling southbound on I-85 in the area should expect delays and consider alternate routes until recovery operations are complete. Authorities say updates will be provided as the situation develops.
