Mackinac Island, Mich. – A Frost Advisory remains in effect for Mackinac Island, Bois Blanc Island, and Beaver Island from midnight to 9 a.m. EDT Thursday, as temperatures are expected to fall to around 33°F, according to the National Weather Service in Gaylord. Calm winds and clearing skies will allow frost to form on exposed surfaces overnight.

The advisory highlights the potential for frost to develop across the northern Lake Michigan islands, where coastal moderation usually limits early-season chills. However, forecasters note that even brief dips near freezing could harm tender vegetation if left uncovered.

According to the weather service, residents and visitors should protect outdoor plants and flowers by covering them or moving them indoors this evening. Early ferry operators and marina workers may also encounter light frost on decks and vehicles before sunrise.

While Thursday morning will start cold, sunshine and light winds will lead to a milder afternoon, with highs reaching the upper 50s. The weekend trend looks warmer and mostly dry as a ridge of high pressure builds over the Great Lakes, bringing more typical mid-October conditions.
