Luzerne County, PA – A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that could help solve the 2020 killing of Fernando Vasquez Vittini in Hanover Township.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Troop P’s Major Case team, Luzerne County 911 received multiple calls on Aug. 9, 2020, at 1:24 p.m. regarding a shooting in the 200 block of Boland Avenue. Investigators said Vittini and Jose Carolos Matos were seated in a parked vehicle when two male suspects—one described as Black, the other dark-skinned—entered the back seat.
Police allege the suspects opened fire on Vittini and Matos shortly after entering. Matos fled on foot, while Vittini drove away but later collapsed from his injuries at the intersection of South Main Street and St. Mary’s Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said one suspect dropped a large amount of cash while fleeing, which the other retrieved before escaping in a red Chevrolet Impala driven by a third accomplice. That vehicle was later recovered by state police.
