Investigators say the incident occurred at approximately 2:43 p.m. Sunday, when Lunenburg County law enforcement was notified of a woman inside a vehicle who had been shot. The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment. Police believe she was fired upon multiple times during a domestic-related incident before the suspect fled the scene.
Authorities said the vehicle Stokes was driving at the time was later recovered at a business location in Henderson, North Carolina, near the I-85 corridor. A second vehicle, described as a 2007 silver Honda Civic with Virginia license plate TGL 9143, was also reported stolen from the same location. Stokes is believed to now be driving that Honda Civic.
Stokes is described as white, approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing about 230 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
