Lubbock, TX – A fall cold front moving through West Texas early next week will bring a temporary cool-down and scattered storms before summer-like warmth returns later in the week.
According to the US National Weather Service Lubbock, rain chances will increase to 50% on Monday (Columbus Day) and 40% Tuesday, as the front passes through the region. Winds could gust up to 15 mph, with daytime highs ranging from the upper 60s to upper 80s and overnight lows dipping into the 50s and low 60s.
By Wednesday, skies are expected to clear and temperatures will climb back into the 80s to near 90°F through Friday, marking a return to unseasonably warm conditions for mid-October.
The weather service noted that after Tuesday, rain chances will remain near zero for the rest of the week, creating ideal conditions for outdoor activities but with continued dry and breezy afternoons.
Residents are encouraged to plan for potential wet roads and brief storms early in the week, and to stay hydrated as warmer temperatures rebound by Thursday.
