Lubbock, Texas – Sunshine and dry heat will blanket Lubbock through Tuesday as temperatures rise into the upper 90s and southerly winds hover between 10 to 15 mph, keeping much of West Texas in summer mode.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, skies will remain mostly clear tonight with low temperatures falling into the upper 60s and low 70s—several degrees above seasonal norms. This warming trend will continue to support elevated fire danger and increased daytime fatigue for those working outdoors.

Lubbock-area residents should limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat and stay hydrated. With no rain in sight and persistent sun, ranchers and farmers across the South Plains should monitor soil moisture and livestock closely. The warm, stable air will also keep air quality steady, though ozone levels could rise slightly in urban pockets.

No advisories or watches are in effect at this time, but the NWS warns that heat-related health risks remain a concern for sensitive groups.

Temperatures are expected to stay above average through midweek.
