Lubbock, Texas – A few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms may drift across the South Plains late this evening before clearing out after midnight, leaving behind mild overnight lows in the upper 60s. While severe weather is not expected, brief gusty winds and pockets of heavy rain remain possible in a few spots.
According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, skies will turn mostly clear overnight with winds easing to 10 mph or less. Conditions will shift quickly by Wednesday, with sunshine dominating and afternoon highs climbing to between 90 and 95 degrees across the region.
The warmup will be most noticeable from Lubbock to Plainview, where residents can expect light southwest breezes and dry air. The hot, dry stretch could continue into the end of the workweek, increasing the need for extra water breaks and heat precautions for those working outdoors.
Tonight’s rain should not cause significant flooding, but drivers are urged to slow down on wet roads late this evening and remain alert for brief reduced visibility in heavier showers.
