Lubbock, Texas – Light wintry precipitation is expected across portions of West Texas on Monday, with the highest chances for snow focused across the southwestern South Plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, a storm system moving through the region will bring light snowfall beginning Monday morning and continuing through the afternoon. Forecast graphics show the greatest chances for measurable snow south and west of Lubbock, including areas near Brownfield, Denver City, and Levelland.

In Lubbock, the probability of measurable snowfall remains low, though snow flurries are possible, especially during the morning hours. Farther southwest, probabilities increase, with Denver City showing snow chances near 40 percent, making it one of the more likely locations to see a dusting.

The National Weather Service noted that a dusting of snow is the most likely outcome across the southwestern South Plains, while other parts of the Caprock region can expect occasional flurries with little to no accumulation. Chances for one inch or more of snowfall remain very low across most of the area.

Cold temperatures will accompany the wintry weather. Forecasters warn that roadways may become slick, particularly during the morning hours and in areas where light snow accumulates on untreated surfaces. Southeastern New Mexico is also highlighted as an area where slick travel conditions could develop.

Residents are encouraged to stay alert, dress for cold conditions, and use caution while driving. Pet owners are also advised to bring animals indoors during colder periods.

While impacts are expected to remain minor, commuters, students, and early-morning workers may notice brief travel slowdowns due to flurries and cold pavement conditions.
