New York, NY – Winter weather returns to parts of the Northeast on Tuesday as a coastal low is expected to bring accumulating snow to the Lower Hudson Valley, interior New Jersey, and parts of western Connecticut, with impacts starting early Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, 3 to 5 inches of snow are possible across Orange County, Putnam County, and western Passaic County, with snowfall beginning as early as 1 a.m. and continuing through 7 p.m. Tuesday. Areas including Middletown, West Milford, and Cold Spring are among those likely to see the highest totals. Advisory-level snowfall may prompt travel disruptions, especially during the morning commute.

For much of Connecticut and northern New Jersey, snowfall amounts are expected to range from a few tenths of an inch to 2 inches, especially in the far interior of southwestern Connecticut near Danbury and Waterbury. The greatest uncertainty lies in this transition zone, where snow may quickly change to rain depending on the storm track.

Coastal areas like New York City and Long Island will likely see rain, though brief periods of wet snow are possible early Tuesday. Minor accumulations may develop across eastern Connecticut by Tuesday night.

Winter Weather Advisories could be issued as confidence grows. Drivers should prepare for slick conditions in elevated and inland areas and monitor for further updates through Monday night.
