Milwaukee, WI – A Frost Advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. CDT Wednesday for much of central and northwestern Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan. The advisory covers areas generally northwest of Highway 151, including locations such as Beaver Dam, Wisconsin Dells, and Fond du Lac.

According to the NWS, widespread frost is expected overnight, with low temperatures dipping into the lower to middle 30s. Elsewhere across southern Wisconsin, patchy frost may form as temperatures fall into the upper 30s. Milder readings in the 40s are expected closer to the Lake Michigan shoreline, where warmer lake air should prevent frost development.

The advisory follows a stretch of clear, calm nights that have allowed heat to escape quickly after sunset. The combination of light winds, dry air, and clear skies is expected to produce ideal conditions for frost formation.

Officials urge residents to cover or bring indoors any sensitive plants or vegetation before midnight Tuesday night to prevent frost damage. Gardeners and farmers should take extra precautions to protect late-season crops.

The Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2025, when temperatures are expected to rise above freezing under sunny skies.
