Louisville, Kentucky – Clear skies are moving into Kentucky this weekend, but residents should brace for unseasonably chilly mornings, with temperatures dipping into the 40s through early next week — low enough to potentially break a few daily records.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, overnight lows tonight will range from 45°F to 52°F, with similar conditions expected Sunday and Monday mornings. The cooler air arrives behind a departing storm system, which brought morning rain and cloud cover now giving way to widespread clearing.
Across Louisville and much of central and western Kentucky, daytime highs will remain pleasant, hovering in the mid-to-upper 70s Sunday and Monday, before warming into the mid-80s by Tuesday. The dry stretch is expected to continue into the middle of next week.
Drivers should be aware of potential patchy fog forming overnight in low-lying rural areas due to the temperature drop. Residents are also advised to avoid turning off heat sources entirely if indoor temperatures fall significantly overnight, especially for young children or elderly individuals.
While the threat of record-breaking cold is mainly limited to early mornings, the National Weather Service says a broader warming trend will take hold by midweek.
