Louisville, KY – Kentucky residents should prepare for a blustery and stormy Thursday as strong winds and scattered thunderstorms move through the region. Wind gusts exceeding 40 mph could cause power outages, hazardous travel conditions, and minor damage across central and southern parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Louisville, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. tonight. Winds will range from 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. Non-thunderstorm winds will be strong enough to blow around unsecured outdoor objects, break tree limbs, and make travel difficult, particularly along I-65 and other open roadways. Evening thunderstorms could further worsen conditions with heavy rain and potential lightning.

What to Expect for the Rest of the Week

• Thursday Night: Winds gradually ease after midnight, with skies clearing and temperatures dropping to the low 30s.

• Friday: Sunshine returns, bringing a high near 59°F with calm conditions.

• Sunday: Rain returns with a 70% chance of showers and highs in the upper 50s.

• Monday & Tuesday: Partly cloudy with scattered showers and highs near 56°F.
