Louisville, KY – After a warm start to October, Kentucky will shift into a more seasonable fall pattern this week, bringing cooler air, breezy winds, and a potential frost risk by midweek, according to the US National Weather Service Louisville.

Forecasters say a weak cold front will pass through the region Tuesday morning, possibly producing a few light showers, mainly north and east of Louisville. Behind the front, breezy west winds will usher in cooler, drier air through midweek.

Highs on Tuesday will reach the mid-60s to low 70s, while Wednesday will be cooler, with highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s under mostly sunny skies. Lows will dip into the mid-40s tonight and could fall into the 30s Wednesday night and Thursday night, bringing the potential for widespread frost across much of central and southern Kentucky.

Residents are encouraged to protect sensitive plants and outdoor vegetation, as early-season frost could cause damage in low-lying and rural areas.

Conditions are expected to remain dry and sunny heading into late week, offering classic crisp fall weather for outdoor plans.
