Louisville, Kentucky – A quiet, sunny Saturday will give way to another round of summer storms for Louisville and much of central Kentucky starting Sunday, raising concerns for outdoor plans and local travel through early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, Saturday brings a break from the rain with highs near 83°F and light northeast winds, but conditions will shift by Sunday afternoon as a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms and showers develops after 2 p.m. East winds will keep temperatures in the low 80s, but heavier downpours and isolated lightning may impact outdoor events and highways, especially late Sunday and into Monday.

Monday and Tuesday both bring a 40-50 percent chance of additional storms, with locally heavy rain and brief gusty winds possible during the afternoon and evening hours. Most impacts are expected along I-65 and I-64 corridors, with drivers urged to monitor radar updates and allow extra travel time during potential downpours. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items and check for changing conditions, as scattered showers could briefly disrupt power or create ponding on roads.

The unsettled weather is expected to taper off by Wednesday, but forecasters say pop-up storms remain possible through midweek. Further advisories could be issued if rain totals increase or strong storms develop.
