Louisville, Kentucky – Blustery winds and sharply colder air will surge into Kentucky and southern Indiana early Sunday as a strong cold front sweeps across the region, sending wind chills into the teens and low 20s by afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, wind chills will bottom out between 13°F and 26°F across cities like Elizabethtown, Bowling Green, and Madison, Indiana, with actual highs barely reaching the low 40s. Campbellsville and Frankfort could feel like the upper teens for most of Sunday, with colder air pushing deeper into the week.

Daytime highs from Monday through Wednesday will hover in the 30s and low 40s—well below seasonal averages. Overnight lows will dip into the 20s each night, intensifying the risk for black ice, especially in rural and shaded roadways. Drivers should allow extra travel time, and residents are urged to protect outdoor pets and insulate vulnerable plumbing.

This colder-than-normal stretch is expected to last into next weekend, with no significant warm-up in sight. More wind chill advisories may be issued if conditions worsen.
