Louisville, Kentucky – Heat index values in Louisville could reach 105° Monday afternoon, as Kentucky braces for more dangerous summer conditions and the return of scattered storms. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Wednesday, keeping much of southern Indiana and central Kentucky under sweltering temperatures and intermittent thunderstorm threats.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, heat index values will hover above 100° through midweek, with a 30–50% chance of thunderstorms developing after 4 p.m. Monday and again Wednesday afternoon. These storms may bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning — offering the only real break from the oppressive heat.

I-65 commuters and residents across Jefferson, Oldham, and Bullitt counties should be prepared for slick roads and reduced visibility late Monday. West winds will briefly cool conditions overnight, but triple-digit heat will return by Tuesday, with highs forecast to reach 96° under mostly sunny skies.

Locals are urged to limit outdoor activity, drink plenty of fluids, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Children and pets should never be left in vehicles. Spotter activation is not anticipated, but residents should remain weather-aware through Wednesday.
