LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Thunderstorms will roll into Louisville and much of central Kentucky late Monday, bringing periods of heavy rain and the potential for brief street flooding through early Tuesday morning. Evening commuters could face wet roads and reduced visibility, with rainfall expected to intensify overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, showers and thunderstorms will develop after 5 p.m. Monday and continue into the early hours of Tuesday. Up to 2 inches of rain may fall in some areas, particularly across Jefferson and Oldham counties. Winds will remain light but could gust near 20 mph during storms.

By Wednesday, drier air moves in, clearing skies and dropping humidity levels. Temperatures will climb into the upper 60s to low 70s midweek before warming again by the weekend. Road conditions and low-lying areas may remain slick through early Tuesday, so drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and avoid flooded intersections.

Sunny, calm weather is expected to hold through at least Sunday, providing a much-needed break after the early-week rain. Additional updates will be issued if flooding concerns develop overnight.
