Louisville, KY – A widespread wintry mix is expected to move across southern Indiana and central Kentucky late Monday, creating slick and hazardous travel conditions through early Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday for a broad portion of the region, including Orange, Washington, Scott, Jefferson, Dubois, Crawford, Perry, Harrison, Floyd, and Clark counties in Indiana, as well as numerous Kentucky counties from Louisville and Lexington to Bowling Green and the Lake Cumberland region.
Forecasters expect 1 to 3 inches of snow, with a light glaze of ice possible across much of the advisory area. In southeastern Indiana and north-central Kentucky—including parts of Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Trimble, Henry, and Scott counties—narrow bands of heavier snow could produce localized totals up to 4 inches.
According to the NWS, precipitation will begin as snow Monday night before mixing with sleet or freezing drizzle toward morning. Roads are expected to become slippery quickly, especially on bridges and overpasses. The Tuesday morning commute will likely see the most significant travel impacts across Louisville, Lexington, Frankfort, Elizabethtown, and surrounding communities.
Travelers are urged to slow down and use caution, particularly on untreated roads. State transportation departments advise checking 511in.org for Indiana road conditions and GoKY.ky.gov for Kentucky travel updates.
Snow and icy patches may linger into mid-morning before conditions gradually improve.
