Louisville, KY – Residents across Kentucky are being advised to prepare for changing weather conditions this weekend, as forecasters warn of possible severe storms late Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, Saturday will remain mostly dry with partly sunny skies and high temperatures ranging from 88 to 92 degrees. Only isolated afternoon showers are expected.
By Sunday, however, the weather pattern shifts. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast throughout the day, with highs between 85 and 89 degrees. The NWS cautions that some of these storms may become strong to severe by Sunday evening, bringing the potential for damaging winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of central Kentucky, including Louisville, Bardstown, Elizabethtown, and Bowling Green, under a marginal severe weather risk for September 21. This means isolated severe storms are possible, though widespread severe weather is not currently expected.
Forecasters advise residents to stay weather-aware, especially if planning outdoor events Sunday afternoon or evening. Daily chances of showers and storms will continue into next week, making for a more unsettled weather pattern across the region.
“This is a good reminder to review your severe weather plan and have multiple ways to receive warnings,” the National Weather Service stated in its Saturday morning update.
