Louisville, KY – The National Weather Service in Louisville reports that colder air arriving with a strong cold front will bring the season’s first snow showers to parts of Kentucky Sunday evening into Monday.

According to the US National Weather Service, light rain will change to light snow tonight across central and eastern Kentucky, with widespread snow showers and occasional snow squalls possible on Monday. While ground temperatures remain relatively warm, limiting accumulation, visibility and travel impacts could occur during heavier bursts of snow.

Minor snow accumulations of around one inch are possible, particularly across the Bluegrass region, including cities such as Lexington, Richmond, and Elizabethtown. Snow may briefly coat grassy or elevated surfaces before melting through the day as temperatures rise slightly.

Forecasters expect the system to move east by late Monday night, giving way to clearer and colder conditions midweek. Drivers are urged to watch for slick spots and rapidly changing visibility, especially during Monday’s morning commute.
