Louisville, KY – Temperatures across central Kentucky will continue to moderate this week, peaking Thursday before a strong cold front brings widespread rain, gusty winds, and a few thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service office in Louisville, temperatures will gradually warm through midweek, with Tuesday highs in the upper 40s and Wednesday highs climbing into the low to mid-50s. Forecasters say Thursday is expected to be the warmest day of the week, with highs reaching the mid to upper 50s across much of the region.

A low chance of rain showers may develop Wednesday, particularly across southern Kentucky, but the most impactful weather is expected on Thursday. A strong cold front moving through the Ohio Valley is forecast to bring widespread rain showers and gusty winds, along with a few thunderstorms.

Some storms Thursday afternoon could produce strong wind gusts, though severe weather is not currently expected. Rainfall is expected to be beneficial, but wet roads and breezy conditions may impact travel during the day and evening hours.

As the cold front passes, temperatures will drop noticeably. Friday highs are expected to fall back into the upper 30s to low 40s, marking a brief cooldown to end the workweek.

Conditions improve heading into the weekend, with temperatures rebounding into the upper 40s and low 50s under drier skies. No winter weather impacts are anticipated at this time.

The National Weather Service advises residents to stay updated on forecast changes, especially regarding Thursday’s rain, wind, and thunderstorm potential.
