Louisville, KY – Gusty thunderstorms and locally heavy downpours are moving into Louisville and much of central Kentucky, raising concerns for slick roads and isolated flooding through Wednesday. Residents should prepare for brief power outages, dangerous lightning, and sudden changes in driving conditions as storms roll through Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, showers and storms will remain possible across southern Indiana and central Kentucky this afternoon and tonight, with the most intense weather expected during the evening commute. Forecasters warn that repeated rounds of rain could drop between a tenth and a quarter of an inch each time, with higher totals in the hardest-hit areas. Scattered thunderstorms are set to continue through Wednesday before skies clear out for the end of the workweek.

Heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning are the primary hazards, particularly on interstates around Louisville, New Albany, and Elizabethtown. If you must drive, slow down and watch for water on roads. Outdoor activities should be rescheduled or moved inside until storms pass. Spotter activation may be needed for dangerous weather.

More sunshine and rising temperatures are expected by Thursday, with highs reaching near 90°F by Friday. Another round of showers and storms is possible late Saturday and Sunday, so keep a close watch for additional advisories.

Warnings remain in effect through Wednesday, and more alerts could follow if storms intensify.
