Louisville, KY – Dry weather will continue across much of central Kentucky and southern Indiana today before hotter and more humid conditions settle into the region for the remainder of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, Tuesday will remain mostly dry, with only a slight chance for an isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm near the Tennessee border. Elsewhere, sunshine and warm temperatures will dominate.

Afternoon highs will climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s through the week, while increasing humidity will push heat index values between 98 and 103 degrees, especially from Wednesday through Friday. Forecasters note the dangerous heat could linger into the weekend.

Communities including Louisville, Lexington, Elizabethtown, Bowling Green, Frankfort, Bardstown, and southern Indiana cities such as Jeffersonville and New Albany can expect the hottest conditions during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Residents planning to spend extended time outdoors are encouraged to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and avoid strenuous activity during peak heating hours. Officials also remind everyone to check on vulnerable neighbors and never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles.

While isolated storms remain possible near the Tennessee state line through midweek, the highest chance for showers and thunderstorms is expected Friday afternoon, when a more active weather pattern begins to develop across the region.
