LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A stretch of warm and mostly dry weather will give way to scattered storms across Kentucky beginning Sunday, bringing a shift to a wetter, more unsettled pattern through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a few isolated showers are possible tonight, but storm chances increase Sunday afternoon with scattered thunderstorms expected across much of the state. Temperatures will stay unseasonably warm, reaching the low to mid-80s despite the incoming rain.

By Monday, rain chances climb sharply, with a 70% likelihood of showers and storms. Areas including Louisville, Bowling Green, and Lexington could see heavy downpours that may slow travel during the morning and evening commute. Roadways like I-65 and I-64 could see ponding water in low-lying spots.

Tuesday brings another 50% chance of storms, keeping conditions unsettled and muggy. By Wednesday, rain lingers with a 60% chance of thunderstorms, though slightly cooler air is expected to move in with highs in the 70s.

Residents are advised to keep phones charged for weather alerts, allow extra travel time during downpours, and avoid driving through flooded roads. More advisories could be issued if storms intensify.
