LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thick fog hugs the Ohio River this morning, dimming city lights and muffling the early hum of traffic. From Jeffersonville to Elizabethtown, visibility has dropped to a few hundred feet in places, creating slick, slow-going conditions for drivers across I-65, I-64, and I-71.

A Dense Fog Advisory from the National Weather Service in Louisville remains in effect through 10 a.m. EST, covering southern Indiana and much of central Kentucky. Visibility may drop below a quarter mile at times. Drivers are urged to use low beams, reduce speed, and allow extra distance on bridges and open stretches.

Once the fog burns away, skies brighten briefly before another system brings showers later Sunday and a possible rain-to-snow changeover into Monday. Temperatures will fall from the mid-40s into the upper 20s as northwest winds gust near 20 mph. Light snow could dust grassy areas early Monday, though impacts look minimal for now.

Veterans Day turns mostly sunny but cold, with highs struggling to reach 45°F after morning lows near 25°F. The brisk start to next week marks Kentucky’s clearest sign yet that winter is closing in, part of a larger cold wave stretching from Texas to the Great Lakes.

For now, the weekend offers a quick mix of late-fall weather—dense fog, chilly rain, and a few flurries to remind residents that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Those traveling or attending outdoor events should plan for shifting visibility and dropping temperatures through Monday.
