Louisville, Kentucky – Cold temperatures will persist across much of the region through the weekend before a noticeable warming trend begins by Sunday afternoon and continues into early next week.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Louisville, temperatures will remain below normal through Saturday night, with dry conditions expected for most locations. A small chance for flurries exists Sunday morning across parts of southeast Indiana and northeast Kentucky, but no significant accumulation is anticipated.

By Sunday afternoon, temperatures are expected to begin rising as milder air moves into the region. Highs will continue to climb through Monday and Tuesday, with above-normal temperatures likely by Tuesday. Many areas could see highs reaching into the 50s and 60s, especially along major travel corridors such as Interstate 65, Interstate 64, Interstate 71, and the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265).

The warming trend will be accompanied by generally dry weather through Tuesday, helping improve road conditions and allowing for ongoing snowmelt where snow remains on the ground. Drivers should still watch for lingering wet spots in shaded areas during the early morning hours.

The National Weather Service indicates the next chance for measurable rain will arrive Tuesday night into Wednesday as a new system moves into the Ohio Valley. While details remain uncertain, rain could impact midweek travel during overnight and morning hours.

The shift to milder weather may benefit commuters, students, and outdoor workers, particularly during daytime hours along exposed highways and urban corridors. However, officials advise residents to remain mindful of changing conditions as temperatures fluctuate.

Residents are encouraged to monitor official National Weather Service forecasts for updates on the timing of the warm-up and the midweek rain potential.
