Louisville, Kentucky — A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move east across central Kentucky and southern Indiana Saturday, bringing gusty winds and brief heavy rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, some storms could become strong as they track across the region ahead of a cold front moving through the Ohio Valley.

Forecasters say the primary threat will be isolated damaging wind gusts, though brief heavy rainfall and small hail cannot be ruled out in stronger storms.

Current severe weather outlooks place much of the region, including Louisville and Bowling Green, under a Level 1 Marginal Risk, while areas farther east toward parts of eastern Kentucky fall under a Level 2 Slight Risk for severe storms.

Meteorologists expect the line of storms to progress west to east through the day, affecting communities across central Kentucky and southern Indiana before moving out later Saturday.

While widespread severe weather is not expected, officials encourage residents to remain weather aware and prepared to receive warnings if stronger storms develop.

The National Weather Service recommends having multiple ways to receive weather alerts, particularly during active weather days when storms may intensify quickly.

Drivers across the region may encounter brief downpours and reduced visibility during heavier storms, especially during peak daytime travel periods.
