Louisville, Kentucky – Rain is expected to return to the Louisville area Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon, with between a half inch and one and a half inches possible across central Kentucky.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, clouds will increase Saturday morning before rain develops later in the afternoon. Showers are expected to continue Saturday night and into Sunday morning before gradually clearing Sunday afternoon.

Rainfall totals over the weekend are forecast between 0.50 and 1.50 inches. While widespread flooding is not anticipated, periods of steady rain could lead to ponding on roadways and reduced visibility, especially along major corridors including I-65, I-64 and I-71.

Saturday highs are expected to reach between 55 and 62 degrees, with overnight lows Saturday night in the lower to upper 40s. Sunday will remain mild, with highs ranging from 49 to 55 degrees as rain tapers off during the afternoon hours.

The National Weather Service notes that temperatures will remain above seasonal averages, and even warmer conditions are expected heading into next week.

Drivers should allow extra travel time during periods of heavier rainfall, particularly Saturday evening and early Sunday when roads may be slick. Students and weekend travelers may encounter slower commutes during peak rainfall periods.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as timing and rainfall amounts may adjust slightly.
