Louisville, KY – The National Weather Service in Louisville reports that windy and showery conditions are expected across the region today, Sunday, October 19, as a cold front moves through the state, ushering in a much cooler air mass.

According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts between 25 and 35 mph, with isolated gusts near 40 mph, are possible through the afternoon. Scattered showers will accompany the front, followed by rapidly clearing skies late tonight.

Temperatures that began the day in the 60s will steadily drop through the 50s by evening, reaching overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s by early Monday. The start of the new week will bring calmer and sunny conditions Monday, with highs returning to the mid-60s to lower 70s.

A few breezy, isolated showers may return Tuesday, but no significant rainfall is expected. Cooler, fall-like air will persist across central Kentucky and southern Indiana through midweek.

Residents should secure outdoor items and exercise caution when driving in gusty winds.
