Louisville, Kentucky – Multiple waves of showers and storms are expected to move through the region from Friday into early Saturday, with a Level 2 severe weather risk in place.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, storms that began early Friday morning will continue pushing east through early afternoon. Activity is expected to diminish Friday evening before another round of showers and storms develops Friday night and continues into Saturday morning.
Forecasters say the primary threat is gusty winds, while noting a very small risk for a brief, weak tornado. The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the region, including Louisville, under a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather during the Friday night to Saturday morning period.
Storm potential is expected to decrease after early Saturday, and confidence in widespread severe weather remains low due to limited fuel for storms.
Residents are encouraged to stay aware of changing conditions, especially during overnight hours when storms may be harder to track.
For commuters and early-shift workers, wet roads and occasional downpours could impact travel during both the Friday morning and Saturday morning timeframes.
