Louisville, KY – Dangerous heat will grip Kentucky through Tuesday before a cold front brings scattered thunderstorms into the region by Tuesday evening and continuing into Wednesday. Temperatures could push into the upper 90s in parts of central Kentucky, with storm chances marking a sharp shift in the weather pattern.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, isolated strong storms may develop late Tuesday, bringing heavy downpours, gusty winds, and lightning. The most widespread activity is expected Tuesday night into early Wednesday, particularly along the I-65 corridor, including Louisville, Elizabethtown, and Bowling Green.

Travel could be impacted during the evening commute Tuesday and into the overnight hours as storms move through. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, monitor alerts, and avoid flooded roads if downpours develop. Power outages are also possible with stronger wind gusts.

By Thursday, drier air and cooler conditions will settle across the state, with highs dropping into the mid-80s under mostly sunny skies. The calmer weather will linger into the end of the week, offering a break from both the heat and storms.

More updates and possible advisories are expected as storms approach Tuesday evening.
