Louisville, Kentucky – Louisville residents are in for another sweltering stretch as heat and humidity build through the weekend, with isolated thunderstorms developing during the afternoon and evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, highs will climb into the upper 80s and low-to-mid 90s through Saturday, with heat indices pushing even higher due to elevated humidity. Scattered showers and storms are possible today through Saturday, mainly between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., and could bring brief downpours, gusty winds, and lightning.

Areas across Jefferson, Bullitt, Hardin, and Shelby counties may see quick-moving storms that could disrupt outdoor plans or slow traffic on I-65, I-64, and the Gene Snyder Freeway. While severe weather is not expected, localized flooding is possible where storms repeatedly track over the same area.

Those planning to attend outdoor events or travel should stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade, and monitor local alerts. Residents without reliable air conditioning are encouraged to visit cooling centers or public libraries during peak heat hours.

Storm chances remain isolated Friday before increasing slightly on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to stay elevated into early next week, with more showers possible by Sunday.
