LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky faces a sweltering stretch of weather as temperatures climb into the upper 90s with heat indices nearing 110 degrees by Monday afternoon. The National Weather Service in Louisville warns that conditions could reach Heat Advisory levels, especially in areas west of I-65.

According to the agency, Sunday’s highs will range from 89 to 96 degrees with scattered thunderstorms possible, but relief will be limited. Monday looks hotter and drier, with most cities including Louisville, Bowling Green, and Elizabethtown expected to top out between 91 and 98 degrees. Heat indices in Hartford, Brandenburg, and Campbellsville may push as high as 107°F.

The heat continues into Tuesday, when another round of storms could develop late in the day, particularly across southern Indiana and central Kentucky. Lexington and Louisville may see brief downpours but still face oppressive humidity and feels-like temperatures in the low 100s.

Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Drivers are reminded not to leave children or pets in parked cars, as cabin temperatures can rise quickly.

The National Weather Service says the heat threat will gradually ease by midweek, but alerts may be issued if Monday’s values climb further.
