Louisville, Kentucky – Localized thunderstorms could bring damaging winds and hail across parts of Kentucky this afternoon and evening, with a few storms turning severe by nightfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a marginal risk for severe storms is in effect for much of central and western Kentucky through Saturday night, May 31. Scattered showers and storms are expected, particularly during the late afternoon and evening hours. The strongest storms may produce gusty winds and hail.

Cities including Bowling Green, Owensboro, and Elizabethtown could see brief power outages or downed limbs if severe cells pass through. Outdoor plans and travel may be disrupted on I-65, the Bluegrass Parkway, and other major routes. Residents are advised to move vehicles under cover and avoid open areas during lightning activity.

Sunday brings a lower chance of rain, with only southern Kentucky—around Somerset and London—seeing slight storm activity. Most of the state will remain dry. By Monday, skies will clear and temperatures will climb into the low 80s.

Storm chances end tonight, but more updates are expected if severe activity escalates. Stay weather-aware and check for alerts through local channels or weather.gov/lmk.
