Louisville, KY – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Louisville has issued a Dense Fog Advisory through 10 a.m. Eastern Time this morning as widespread fog blankets much of central Kentucky.

Forecasters say a mix of clear skies, light winds, and damp ground from recent rainfall has created ideal conditions for fog development overnight. Visibility is near zero in low-lying and fog-prone areas, including portions of the Bluegrass and Ohio River valleys.

Drivers across Louisville, Elizabethtown, Bowling Green, Lexington, and Campbellsville should use extreme caution during the early morning hours. The NWS advises motorists to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time until conditions improve.

“Visibilities will vary over short distances overnight,” the NWS said, noting that some locations may experience sudden drops in visibility to under a quarter mile.

The fog is expected to gradually lift and mix out by late morning as temperatures rise, leading to a mostly sunny afternoon with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
