Louisville, KY – A steady, widespread rain is soaking much of central Kentucky today, with forecasters warning that some areas could see periods of heavy rainfall before drier, cooler weather arrives later in the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, rain will persist through Wednesday night, gradually tapering off from west to east by Thursday morning. Most areas can expect around 1 to 1.25 inches of rainfall before conditions improve.
Temperatures will stay mild, with highs in the low to mid-50s today, and overnight lows in the upper 40s. Thursday will bring partial clearing, followed by a dry and chilly Friday, when highs are forecast to reach the mid-50s to near 60°F.
The NWS says no severe weather is expected, but drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads during heavier showers.
By the weekend, the region is expected to enjoy a return to cool, dry fall conditions — just in time for Halloween festivities.
