Louisville, KY – Wind chills could drop into the teens by Monday morning as a strong cold front sweeps across Kentucky overnight, bringing rain, thunder, and the state’s first wintry weather of the season.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, showers and isolated thunder will move through late Saturday into early Sunday. By midday Sunday, temperatures will fall through the 40s with light rain and drizzle lingering behind the front. Late Sunday night into Monday, scattered snow showers are expected, especially on grassy and elevated surfaces like rooftops and bridges.

Cities like Lexington, Elizabethtown, and Frankfort will wake up to freezing conditions Monday with highs only in the low to mid 30s across much of the state. Morning wind chills could dip into the teens, making early commutes bitterly cold. Louisville, Bowling Green, and Richmond could also see light snow and breezy winds through early Monday afternoon.

Residents are urged to dress in layers, allow extra travel time Monday, and monitor for slick spots during the morning rush. While snow accumulations will be minor, colder air and wind gusts could impact visibility and road grip.

The cold snap eases slightly Tuesday, but another chilly morning is expected before sunshine returns midweek.
