Louisville, KY – Hot and dry conditions will continue across Kentucky this week, with daily highs pushing near 90 degrees through Thursday. The National Weather Service in Louisville warns the stretch of heat will further worsen ongoing drought conditions.
According to the agency, temperatures from Monday through Thursday are expected to range between the mid-80s and lower 90s, with mostly sunny skies dominating the region. The forecast calls for highs of 86–91 on Monday, 85–90 on Tuesday, 84–90 on Wednesday, and 87–92 on Thursday.
The next chance for rain is not expected until Friday and into the weekend, but forecasters note that any precipitation will likely be light and may not provide significant relief for the dry soil and water levels across the area.
Officials are urging residents to take precautions against heat stress, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and monitor local drought updates. Farmers and outdoor workers, in particular, could face challenges with worsening soil dryness as the week progresses.
Forecasters advise that the pattern of above-normal temperatures and below-normal rainfall may persist into late September, raising concerns for agriculture and water supply.
