Shreveport, Louisiana – Unseasonably warm air is spreading across north Louisiana today, giving the ArkLaTex a taste of spring as temperatures climb far above normal under partly cloudy skies.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, southerly winds are pulling warmer and more humid air back into the region ahead of a late-week cold front. High temperatures today are expected to reach the lower to mid-70s across much of northwest and north-central Louisiana, nearly 20 degrees above average for early January. Winds from the south to southeast will range from 5 to 10 mph, adding to the mild feel.
Communities including Shreveport, Bossier City, Minden, Natchitoches, and Ruston will see dry conditions through the day, making for favorable travel and outdoor plans. Skies remain partly cloudy, with no precipitation concerns through tonight. The warm trend extends into the evening, with overnight lows staying unusually mild in the 50s to near 60 degrees due to continued southerly flow.
Drivers should remain alert for changing conditions later in the week as moisture continues to build ahead of the approaching cold front. While today and tonight stay quiet, the warming trend signals a more active weather pattern developing over the next several days. Residents are encouraged to stay updated as late-week changes approach.
