Baton Rouge, LA – Louisiana will wake up to a winter-like chill next Tuesday morning as Arctic air dives deep into the Gulf South, ending the state’s mild fall pattern. According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, the cold front will arrive Monday evening, November 10, ushering in widespread frost and freezing temperatures by early Tuesday, November 11.

Forecast lows are expected in the mid-30s in New Orleans, where patchy frost could form even near Lake Pontchartrain. Along the Gulf Coast from Houma to Morgan City, temperatures will hover in the upper-30s — unusually cold for early November.

The National Weather Service offices in Shreveport and New Orleans have issued freeze and frost alerts for much of Louisiana, warning residents to prepare for the coldest night of the season. Northwest winds will gust 20–30 mph overnight.

According to the Weather Prediction Center’s Day 3–7 Hazards Outlook, Louisiana lies within a massive “Frost/Freeze” corridor extending from the Deep South to New England — marking one of the earliest November cold waves in recent years.

Highs Tuesday will struggle to reach the upper-40s north and low-50s south under bright sunshine but cold air. The freeze will effectively end the growing season across central and northern Louisiana.

Residents are urged to bring pets indoors, wrap pipes, and protect outdoor plants. Drivers should use caution Tuesday morning, as frost and thin ice may form on bridges and elevated roadways.
