SHREVEPORT, La. – North Louisiana’s quiet, sunny stretch will give way to stormier skies by the weekend as a humid fall front approaches from the west. After several days of near-perfect sunshine and highs near 90 degrees, the National Weather Service says Saturday could bring showers and a few thunderstorms, mainly after midday.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, light winds and clear skies will continue through Friday, creating ideal conditions for outdoor work, travel, and fall decorating. The warmth may feel more like late summer than mid-October, but a moisture surge from Texas will end the calm by Saturday. A 50 to 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected, with brief heavy rain and lightning possible along Interstate 20 from Shreveport to Ruston.

Drivers should monitor changing road conditions Saturday afternoon and avoid flooded areas during heavier showers. Families visiting local pumpkin patches or planning outdoor festivals should have indoor options ready. No severe weather is expected, but gusty winds and reduced visibility may slow travel in Caddo, Bossier, and DeSoto parishes.

By Sunday, skies clear again, and a cooler air mass settles in, offering highs in the low 80s and lows near 60. The start of next week looks comfortably mild and dry—excellent for fall foliage drives or prepping for Halloween displays across northwest Louisiana.
