A soft layer of fog drapes across Shreveport this morning, with frost shimmering on windshields and lawns as temperatures hover near 37°F. Calm winds and moist air have set the stage for patchy fog through sunrise — drivers should take it slow, especially on I-20 and Highway 80, where visibility may dip under a mile in spots.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, skies will clear through the morning as sunshine pushes highs into the upper 50s. Wednesday brings another jump into the mid-60s, with bright skies and a light southwest breeze offering a welcome break from the chill.

That warmth won’t last forever, though. By Friday, highs could reach the upper 60s, but cooler air is expected to return over the weekend, reminding residents that December’s balance between fall and winter can change quickly. Morning frost may redevelop late Saturday and Sunday as lows settle in the upper 30s.

While Louisiana stays mild, forecasters note that colder Arctic air is digging deep across the Midwest and Great Lakes from December 11–17, sending the season’s coldest air so far across much of the U.S. That pattern may eventually reach the South by mid-month, so now’s the time to prepare homes, vehicles, and gardens for an early-winter snap.
