Lake Charles, La. – Strong storms are expected to roll through southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas Tuesday evening, bringing damaging winds, large hail, and a marginal risk for severe weather across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, a cold front will trigger thunderstorms starting mid-afternoon Tuesday, intensifying by 6–8 p.m. Cities like DeRidder, Oakdale, and Leesville could see rain chances spike to 40% or higher, with peak thunderstorm activity reaching 25% probability. The threat extends into the overnight hours, tapering off early Wednesday.

DeRidder and Alexandria are among the Louisiana cities most at risk, while Silsbee, Kountze, and Lumberton in Texas could face a 45–49% chance of rain with thunderstorm probabilities nearing 20%. Hail up to 1 inch and wind gusts over 58 mph are possible.

Drivers along I-10 and US-171 should prepare for slick roads and possible debris. Residents are advised to charge devices, secure outdoor items, and monitor alerts. The area remains under a Level 1 (Marginal) severe weather risk, meaning isolated severe storms are possible.

Storms are expected to diminish by sunrise Wednesday, but additional advisories may follow if conditions worsen.
